After visiting the SemiPermanent design conference in May this year I’ve been inspired to resume painting – a favourite hobby. An old photo of my mother was the inspiration for this painting but it kept looking like a chinese propaganda painting from the 1950′s. Part of the problem was the stylised hair of the era so I painted out the short curly perm with long straight hair and it is starting to work.
