For SEO nothing drives traffic like price
I recently attended an ecommerce conference on the Gold Coast (June 2012). One of the speakers was Ruslan Kogan founder of Kogan.com.au. Launched in 2006 it is now worth $62 million dollars. He is the wealthiest person in Australia under 30 and was quite controversial when he spoke about his business, successes and SEO.
For Ruslan, Search Engine Optimisation is not important at all. Price wins over design and any optimisation that can be applied. Nothing drives traffic like price.
Well, that’s fine if you want to move volumes of product imported from China, but for the rest of us a happy medium must be the way.
There is so much that one could, should and would do if one had the time. And of course it varies between businesses, products and services. Search Engine Optimisation includes multi-platform visibility and here are a few that you should consider depending on the size, products and services of your business.
Alongside the obvious (your website) these include:
- Blogging
- Community forums & memberships
- Newsletters
There are some amazing resources available to help you achieve your goals in all of these areas and I will be outlining them in future issues.
